The Problem We Saw

Unlike in the United States, public schools in Mexico are not required to serve children with special needs. In Puerto Penasco, just a one-hour drive from the Arizona border, public schools are not able to serve most children with special needs. Sadly, this has left many deserving young people in this community at home, isolated from their peers and with no educational opportunities.

How We Are Addressing it

Fortunately, in early 2024 Nick Schuerman committed to using his recently formed U.S. non-profit, Escuela de Victoria, to address this critical need. As the founder of five very successful private schools serving children with special needs in Arizona, Nick understands the incredible positive impact that quality educational opportunities can have on children of special needs and their future. He decided to partner with the well-respected, local non-profit, Educarte Mexico, to open the first-ever private school serving children with special needs in Puerto Penasco.

How You Can Help

Nick and his team have been busy training the local Educarte team and raising funds to construct the new school. This project is scheduled to open in late August of 2024 but we need your help! By making a tax-deductible donation to Escuela de Victoria, you become an integral part of our mission to provide educational opportunities for the most vulnerable members of this community.
